Bodiam Castle
Bodiam Castle is an easy day trip from Camber Sands, sitting around 18 miles away and usually taking about 30-35 minutes by car. This National Trust castle near Robertsbridge is one of the most striking historic sites in East Sussex, with a wide moat, towers, gatehouse, portcullis and ruined medieval interior to explore.
Built in the 14th century, the castle is especially good for families and relaxed sightseeing. Visitors can wander the courtyard, climb the towers for countryside views, explore the grounds, and make use of on-site facilities including a shop, tea-room, second-hand bookshop and seasonal café.
Public transport from Camber Sands is possible but less direct, so driving is the simplest option. Opening times, admission prices and seasonal activities can change, so it is worth checking the National Trust website before visiting:
